exercise resources

The gentle exercise techniques are designed to help you alleviate the pain and discomfort often experienced with your menstrual cycle. The exercises techniques available for you to try, you may want to try one per month or all - it is entirely up to you how you access and use these free resources.

These resources are for a range of activity levels, each video includes variations so once you become more confident with the movement or stretch, you can progress through and maybe also add some other techniques to build your own programme of activity. Although these techniques were developed in order to help combat discomfort, they can be done at any time.

Alongside these stretches, we would also recommend walking as another form of activity and you could also try some mindfulness.

Sarah Holland-Curry is a Personal Trainer at Flex Fitness North Wales and her passion is helping build confidence through fitness and improving her client's lifestyle by encouraging them to incorporate activity into their daily life but by making it fun not a chore. As a former Coleg Llandrillo learner, she is keen to help current learners see that there should be no limits to what you can do when moving/exercising, especially when on your period.

Growing up Sarah trialed a range of sports and in her late twenties fell in love with lifting weights, this then transferred to a combination of endurance, strength & speed training with Crossfit, and she started competing nationally for around 6 years. In her thirties, she has switched to Bodybuilding.

Her journey has not been plain sailing and has suffered a number of injury setbacks which have been difficult to manage and left a huge void in her life, as it was more than just exercise, it was also how she managed to maintain her mental wellbeing and her ‘me’ time during the day. However, she persevered and pushed on and eventually was able to get back to lifting weights and nothing was going to stop her!

"No matter how you rate yourself at sports or activity or whatever barriers are put in your way, there is something out there for you, you just have to keep trying and don’t let anything stop you, and you can achieve what your mind believes. You've got this."
