Students may NOT have access to other media or devices during the assessment.
Anything that may assist students in answering questions must be covered or removed.
SSIDs, DFAs, and scratch paper must be deleted, shredded, and/or disposed of after testing.
*insist that students complete a Thinking Map before writing. No prompting is allowed.
* have students read an item or text and not let them begin writing the same day.
*review or discuss ANYTHING related to the test items or texts after the testing window opens.
GFUSD Prompting Guidelines: Reminding your students to go back and check their work before submitting is appropriate. Asking a student to go back and check a certain item is not.
Please see the CAASSPP Coordinator if you have questions or would like more guidance.
Administration of the CAST Assessment is estimated to take approximately 2 hours. Note that the CAST is an untimed test. The CAST is composed of six blocks of test questions: two or three blocks of discrete (stand-alone) questions followed by four or three PTs where each PT is a block.
It is strongly recommended that a PT be started and completed in a single test session, and that students only pause the test after the end of a segment.
A scaled score is the student’s overall numerical score. These scores fall on a continuous scale (from approximately 2000 to 3000) that increases across grade levels. Scaled scores can be used to illustrate students’ current level of achievement and their growth over time. When combined together across a student population, scaled scores can also describe school- and district-level changes in performance, as well as reveal gaps in achievement among different groups of students.
Note: If a Test Administrator (TA) does not have the summative assessments available when they start a test session (during the summative window), they are most likely missing the security affidavit. Please have the TA log out completely and log back in without using a bookmark; they will then be prompted to sign it.
*It may take up to 24 hours for tests to appear after signing the security forms.
