Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a school-wide commitment to teaching students appropriate school behaviors, acknowledging them when they get it right, and supporting them when they don’t.
PBIS allows schools to organize and utilize available practices, resources, and personnel to better meet the wide range of student needs. In Greenfield, our aim to create and promote a safe and positive school environment where all students have an opportunity to be successful.
Mission Statement:
Greenfield PBIS promotes a safe and positive culture within Greenfield schools by:
Focusing on the whole child
Utilizing a proactive systems approach
Building capacity by supporting and coaching our schools
Using outcome data to ensure fidelity and inform our practice
In GFUSD, social and emotional learning (SEL) and restorative practices (RP) are used to systematically and intentionally build equitable learning environments for ALL students.
Restorative practices support the development of all five SEL Core Competencies through the following three major RP techniques: affective language, circles, and responses to harm through conversations and conferences. As a district, we are in the initial implementation phase. Over the next several years, we will continue to grow our understanding of SEL/RP and strengthen our systems and processes.
