Overview
The Preschool Assessment Team (PAT) consists of the following specialists: a school psychologist, a speech-language pathologist, and a school nurse. The PAT assesses the following areas of child development: cognitive functioning, self-help/adaptive skills, social/emotional behavior, communication, fine/gross motor skills, pre-academics, and health, vision, and hearing. The assessments are conducted at the Support Services office. Referrals for preschool assessments can be made by Kern Regional Center, parents, health care providers, or other community agencies. After the completion of assessments, an Individualized Education Program (IEP) meeting will be held with the parents to discuss the assessment results and determine eligibility for special education services.
