Learning Management System
Every course automatically has a Canvas site ready to go with a basic template where you can upload your syllabus, send announcements to your students and post assignments. As soon as you are connected to your course during the contract/onboarding process, you receive access.
You are not required to use this site, but it is a Learning Management System (LMS) with which most George Fox students are familiar and access often and you many faculty find it helpful to have all of their resources uploaded electronically and course communications all in one place.
Faculty are able to set up their grading scale so that students can submit assignments and receive assignment grades through Canvas. (Note - final term grades are to be submitted through My.Georgefox within one week after the course has ended. See more details on the Ending A Course page)
Once you are "in the system" during the contract/onboarding process, you will be able to access your Canvas account with the user name and password established for your email, My.Georgefox account, etc. From your main GFU log-in page (login.georgefox.edu) select the Canvas tile. You may want to bookmark Canvas directly to your toolbar for easy access.
Guides, tutorials, recorded webinars, upcoming work session dates, and many other valuable resources are available here .
Canvas Guides on many topics such as how to change your grading scale can be found here.
The Canvas Training YouTube Channel can be accessed here.
Need help finding a course you taught previously that is no longer displayed on your Canvas Dashboard? Locating Your Course will help!
