After day one, you are part of the WIS Community.
This website will no longer be relevant to you as this is aimed to help you in preparation of joining us. Please see the relevant information below on how we communicate with parents along with some apps which you should download in advance.
LearnOS is our main form of communication. With the LearnOS App, parents can access student information, track bus location, pay fees, view circulars, newsletters, timetable, assessment reports and track attendance, submit leave requests and do much more in one place. Please click here to view the video tutorial of how it works.
You will receive your login details for this shortly, but please do reach out to us on reception_wis@gemsedu.com if you have not received these after your first day.
WISPA (GEMS Wellington International School Parents’ Association) is a proactive and highly driven parental body who support our school in all sorts of ways and organise social, academic, performance, sporting and fund-raising events for the whole school community.
If you would like to become a member or you have any questions regarding WISPA then please contact: wispadubai@gmail.com
Each Friday, all parents receive a weekly newsletter, which summarises a wonderful week at WIS. This houses information for the whole school with key messages from our Principal, Heads of School and Heads of Year. You can also view all the upcoming events for the following week to understand what will be happening in school for students and parents.
On 22nd August, all parents will received the exclusive back to school edition, with all the important information you need to know.
At WIS, we use ClassCharts as a form of rewards for all students from FS to Year 13.
ClassCharts is an online platform that allows parents to view their child’s progress during the school day via a parent account. Students can also use the platform to review their own behaviour and use the points they have been awarded to purchase prizes at the end of each term via student account.
Parents will be given a parent login to track the progress of their child.
All students in Year 5-13 are provided with a Google Workspace account managed by school. This account allows access to Google Drive for online storage, Gmail for access to student and staff email and a host of Google apps including docs, slide, sheets and sites.
Email communication sent between students and teachers must always be via a students School Gmail address.
Google classroom is an integral part of the Google work space account and will be the main source of lesson information for most curriculum and pastoral areas. We would advise students to check their Gmail and Google classrooms regularly for updates from staff and our Student Leadership Team.
Students must be aware that in a managed account, there should be no assumption of privacy as Gmail and Google Drive contents are accessible by the Google Work Space Coordinators and other administrators. Students must use the accounts responsibly as objectionable content is screened for in emails and Google Drive contents and the access to all Google services will be suspended in the event inappropriate content is detected in a students account.
At GEMS Wellington International School, we pride ourselves on the opportunities we provide for our students both from an academic and personal perspective. Our EEE (Explore, Enrich, Excite) Programme allows our students to explore the world around them, provide enrichment to their already outstanding curriculum pathways, as well as excite their minds for the future world. Our EEE offer complements our in-school calendar and annual global events, as well as the stage of education that our students are currently experiencing. From FS1 to Year 13 each child has access to opportunities designed to prepare them for the new world around them, as well as build upon already established interests. Over 200 clubs and opportunities are offered as part of our EEE provision that is split into six domains (STEM, Creativity, Sport, Music and Performing Arts, and Wellbeing), this enables students who have a variety of different interests to choose a bespoke provision that best suits their individual needs, remaining consistent with the values, attitudes and attributes of the High-Performance Learning program inside and outside of the classroom. in addition to our incredibly wide ranging offer of face to face provision we also offer a multitude of online activities for our students including: - Project Based Learning - Internal and External Competitions - Live Streamed Provision on Google Meet and MS Teams - Guest Speakers Please access Gems Connect for the link to our fantastic EEE website and booklets where you will see some of the great examples of extra curricular provision offered here at WIS. In addition to our internal EEE provision our external extra-curricular partner ESM provides our students with some fantastic opportunities to take part in both 1:1 and group activities across a wide range of disciplines both in sport and academics. More information about these paid clubs can also be found on our website.
