We understand that the first day at a new school can be quite daunting for the student and parents, but we would like to assure you that we will provide the best possible care for your child and make your first day as easy as possible.
Read through the guidance below and if you still have any questions about the first day, please do reach out to us.
Monday 25th August - Year 5-8
The first day of school for new WIS students in Years 1-4 will be on Monday, 25th August. Drop-off time for new students is from 7:15am - 7:40am. Your Head of Year will share with you via email what exit and entrance point you should use.
After your child/children have been dropped off with their teacher, you are warmly invited to the theatre for a Principal's welcome at 8 am, followed by an opportunity to meet the Senior Leadership team in the cafe. This event will finish at approximately 8:45 am.
All new students should be collected at 12:30 pm on Monday, 25th August, from the collection point shared with you by your Head of Year.
Please use the designated entry points according to year group (see diagram below). Parents can drop their child off at the assigned drop-off/pick-up point, which is outside. Students in Year 9 leave from gate 4. Students in Year 10-11 leave from gate 1
Students in Upper School can choose whether to bring lunch from home or whether to eat food from the café.
Food from home: We encourage students to bring healthy and well-balanced lunch boxes to school. It must be noted that the school operates a strict no-nuts policy (including Nutella) to ensure we maximise student safety in relation to allergies. In line with Muslim values and respect for local culture, we also do not allow pork products into school.
Cafeteria: During the first week, you can purchase a student ID (free if you are a bus user). You can use this ID card to add money and use this in the cafeteria to purchase lunch, snacks or drinks. You can read more information here.
As well as your device, students in Upper School are expected to take responsibility for their own items and are asked to bring the following into school with them:
Pens in blue, black, red, green and purple
HB & coloured pencils
Highlighter pens
Scientific calculator
Device and charger
You can choose whether you would prefer to bring a tablet or laptop
Your device must not have a VPN, to ensure you able to access the Google Education Suite
The Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Policy can be found here.
Pencil sharpener
Eraser
Ruler (30cm)
Pair of compasses
Protractor
Glue stick
Scissors
Reading book
