Mr James Rostron, Vice Principal, would be happy to assist you with any questions regarding the curriculum.
Students in Year 9 begin their transition into Year 10, throughout Year 9, students and parents will begin the Options Process, where they will begin to choose their subjects through personalised pathways where students undertake examination subjects, including GCSE, IGCSE and BTEC Level 2.
The curriculum across Key Stage 3 is regularly reviewed, incorporating the views of our students, leading to new subjects and pathways that impact academic outcomes as well as personal development, learning needs, and interests. In addition, an extensive EEE (Explore, Enrich, Excite) Programme and opportunities for social contribution allow students to extend their learning and interests outside of the classroom.
The Key Stage 4 booklet outlines details of the courses that will be offered to Year 10 students. Accordingly, you need to think very carefully about the courses which are on offer before making decisions. This will ensure that what you study over the next two years suits your needs and aspirations. We are aware that, for some of you, it can be hard to make your choice of subjects. We suggest that you read the option booklet thoroughly and talk to as many of your teachers as possible, as well as your parents and other adults in your family, about your intended choices. When making your choices, think about where studying those subjects can lead to in terms of courses in our Sixth Form, in Higher Education, and also in the world of work, as well as your aptitude and interest in those subjects.
