We understand that the first day at a new school can be quite daunting for the student and parents, but we would like to assure you that we will provide the best possible care for your child and make your first day as easy as possible.
Read through the guidance below and if you still have any questions about the first day, please do reach out to us.
Monday 25th August
The first day of school for new WIS students in Years 5-8 will be on Monday 25th August. Drop-off time for new students is from 7:15am - 7:40am. Your Head of Year will share with you via email, what exit and entrance point you should use.
After your child/children have been dropped off with their teacher, you are warmly invited to the theatre for a Principal's welcome at 8 am, followed by an opportunity to meet the Senior Leadership team in the cafe. This event will finish at approximately 8:45 am.
All new students should be collected at 12:30 pm on Monday 25th August, from the collection point shared with you by your Head of Year.
Please use the designated entry points according to year group (see diagram below). You can park in the sand car park at the back of the school. Parents can drop their child off at the assigned drop-off/pick-up point, which is outside.
Food
Students in Year 5 & Year 6 should bring a healthy packed lunch to school. Students in Years 7 and 8 can choose whether to bring food from home or to use the cafeteria:
Food from home: We encourage students to bring healthy and well-balanced lunch boxes to school. It must be noted that the school operates a strict no-nuts policy (including Nutella) to ensure we maximise student safety in relation to allergies. In line with Muslim values and respect for local culture, we also do not allow pork products into school.
Cafeteria: During the first week, you will be given a Student ID (this is the same ID if you are a bus user). Students will be given a maroon student lanyard along with their ID card. This ID card can be used to purchase items from the cafeteria. You can read more information here. Please note that only students from Years 7 upwards will be able to use the cafeteria and Years 5-6 will need to bring a healthy and nut-free packed lunch.
As well as your device, students in Middle School are expected to take responsibility for their own items and are asked to bring the following into school with them:
Pens in blue, black, red, green and purple
HB & coloured pencils
Highlighter pens
Scientific calculator (Years 7-9 only)

You can choose whether you would prefer to bring a tablet or laptop (Years 7 - 9 we advise you to bring a laptop)
Your device must not have a VPN, to ensure you able to access the Google Education Suite
The Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Policy can be found here.

Timings
Please note that due to lesson timings, Year 5 and 6 pick up time is 3:05 pm, and Years 7 and 8 pick up time is 3:10 pm. Middle School students cannot be collected before these timings unless the school has received communication 24 hours before. If you do need to collect your child early, we kindly ask that this be done before 2:00 pm. Collections after this time are strongly discouraged unless in the case of an emergency, as they can disrupt end-of-day routines and learning.Middle school students with siblings in Year 4 or below can collect Lower School siblings at 3 pm.
