As well as being a highly useful topic to know about for your everyday life, Economics is a core topic in both business studies and the social sciences. If you are considering a post-secondary pathway in either of these areas, this course is highly recommended.
Students will complete an independent inquiry on a topic of choice that will emphasize skill and knowledge application.
Course Content will include:
Introduction to economic theory and related terminology.
Introduction to macroeconomics and microeconomics.
Structure and operation of the business cycle and the Canadian economic system.
The impacts of government actions on a free market economy.
Economic indicators and economics in everyday life.
Indigenous community economic development in the era of Truth and Reconciliation.
This course will explore how services and products can be designed through creativity, consultation and collaboration. Some of the content areas will include types of business ventures and social entrepreneurship, factors that can promote innovation and entrepreneurial success, including networking product/service knowledge, and market analysis, and socially equitable practices. This will be a practical course where students will be tasked with the marketing of a product and is geared towards students who are independently driven and wish to do project based learning.
