In Foods 11, we focus on some of the basics of good nutrition. Students work on designing, testing & evaluating their food products using appropriate equipment and various cooking techniques. Our cooking units follow a classic recipes path within breakfast, lunch appetizers and dinner. They are knowledgeable of the causes and consequences of food contamination and will cook in food safe ways. Students must be willing to work cooperatively in groups, clean up and complete written assignments as part of the course.

This course involves the expansion of sewing techniques used in fashion construction. Students learn how to judge quality in garments, how to identify the historical and cultural factors that influence the use of textiles, and learn how new fabrics and textiles can be used in fashion.
Students will experiment with fabrics and applied design in fabric art, fabric painting and dyeing, and appliqué and fabric embellishment.

Prepare for your future where robotics and programming are part of your daily routine. Computer technology drives so much in our world today, so this course is designed to further your programming knowledge and really dive deep in to object oriented programming. Topics will include more advanced programming using Python, followed by a full unit on Java which will be finished off by making Android apps. Students utilize pre-built libraries and Arduino to demonstrate their computational thinking processes and build a functioning battle-bot! Multiple projects are open ended and students are encouraged to explore their own interests in the field. Enter the world of 3D animation! This course is designed to encourage students' creativity and their ability to generate complex 3D models and 3D animations using the BLENDER software program while publishing their work using QR codes. Students build upon 1st year Media Design and further explore the stages of media production; learning advanced modeling and lighting techniques and experience deeper explorations of materials, textures, and world environments. Students continue to incorporate coding within animations by using Python scripts to deepen the functionality of BLENDER. Students learn motion dynamics using both forward and inverse kinematics while rigging models. Design opportunities await for those who wish to learn more advanced game engine logic, using nodes, programming and rendering methods. Many projects are open ended and students are encouraged to explore their own interests in the field. Come develop the skills that you will need if considering a job in the gaming, film, or special effects industries.

This course focuses on teaching programming and digital design fundamentals through a game engine. Students will learn how to program in a professional coding environment, implement digital art/animation, and design games. At the end of the course most students will have designed and built four 2D games and have confidence with a variety of technologies that can be used to program and create digital media.
Engineering will be a hands-on design and production program. It will be an Applied Design Skills and Technology class with a focus on a wide range of topics from understanding materials to designing and building of structures. It will work to develop the joy of working with materials to create projects of interest to them and applicable to their own lives while working with variety of materials such as leather, wood, metal, cardboard, plastics, glass, composites, wires, fabrics, adhesives, rubber, etc. There will be an emphasis on life cycle of material in the context of reusing and reimagining. It will also aim to include use of water jet cutter, enamelling, powder coating/baking, drilling, metal bending, and metal cutting, amongst other things. They may use the metal shop at times although the Maker space in room 202/203 is quite impressive. All that to say it is a truly incredible opportunity for our students.

Woodwork 11 is a continuation of Woodwork 10. It will focus on design and wood knowledge allowing students to design their own leg and rail project with mortise and tenon joints. The class will be focused largely around their designed project allowing more time for more complicated projects to be built. Ie. coffee/sofa table, desk, couch, chair, etc.

This course provides experience in the metal trades, advanced operation of metal lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and basic techniques of welding, foundry bench work, jewellery making and blacksmithing. In Foods 12, we examine how culture, geography, religion and surrounding cultures impact the food and food traditions in International countries. Our recipes will focus on these cultures in the hopes that students try new foods. An important part of the class is to have students comfortable in cooking with a variety of equipment pieces and ingredients in the hopes that they take this knowledge in to their home cooking. Additionally, a big focus in our food classes is working collaboratively as well as reinforcing good sanitation practices.

Students who have taken 1st and 2nd year programming can take this course to further their knowledge. This course is highly recommended for students going in to computer sciences and engineering. The focus for Programming 12 is on higher order object oriented programming including GUI design. Is baking your jam? Would you love to bake for family and friends? Then this course is for you. Specialized skills in foods introduces you to the world of baked goods, pastries and confections. We build a foundation of principles and skills, and then use specific applications and recipes. Students will be able to prepare a wide array of baked goods! Students will explore gluten-free baking recipe planning and preparation, altering & preparing recipes to address other allergies/dietary restrictions. You will leave with a recipe collection that will set you up on the road to success as a home baker or perhaps as a pastry chef!
