Goals
- Educate others about something you have learned in school OR something you are passionate about.
- Create two rough draft proposals. Do not spend too much time on your drawings but do have 6 distinguished images to represent your ideas, 1 ground or Earth, and 5 inputs.
- Write 1-2 complete sentences that clearly tell your audience what the functions of your chosen images are. Your descriptions should connect to your big idea.
- Create a final paper circuit.
- Program a Scratch project (write your software) to interact with the Makey Makey inputs (the hardware.)
- Record your audio narrations.
- Test, Debug, and repeat until everything is working.
- Share your project for remixing.
- Add your project to the Scratch Studio.
- Share the link to your project in Google Classroom.
After a gallery walk and viewing the example projects file to see completed projects, students will identify and create two draft BIG IDEAS, at least one of your proposals will be approved. Next, students will use the BIG IDEAS handout to share ideas of their own. Once approved, students will begin to build their final circuit drawing.

Once the drawing is ready, students will log into their class Scratch accounts and begin to write the program. Programs will include event blocks to read the input. Of course they will need to record their narrations so that they can tell Scratch and Makey Makey what to say if someone closes a circuit. They will repeat this for a minimum of 4 inputs. If time allows, students can add up to 11 inputs in total.

Tip: Test each input before adding the next circuit. Every circuit should be tested and debugged to ensure that all circuits are functioning properly. See other debugging tips below.

Some steps require approval before you can move on. You must share your research notes and rough draft idea for your project. For your Makey Makey project, you MUST include a sketch of your interactive contraption before you can use the materials. Be sure to include descriptions of the parts. Use arrows to identify the various segments of your creation. Again, DO NOT use any materials until your project is approved!
