An EVS Teachers’ Training Programme was held from January 06–08, 2026 at GD Goenka University, Sohna, to strengthen pedagogical practices in Environmental Studies.
The sessions highlighted EVS as an integrated subject linking science, social science, and life skills, with emphasis on real-life connections. Teachers explored strategies to promote critical thinking and active learning, including inquiry-based methods, discussions, and project work.
The programme also focused on integrating values and citizenship, such as empathy, responsibility, and environmental awareness, into everyday teaching. It concluded with collaborative sharing, reflection, and feedback.
The members of the Admissions and Administration team from GD Goenka Public School, Sector 48 attended the Annual In-Person Training for Admission Counselors on January 9–10, 2026 at GD Goenka University, Sohna.
The two day programme focused on marketing strategies, parent engagement, communication, event planning, and conversion planning, along with the use of AI tools in admissions.
It was a collaborative and enriching experience, reinforcing continuous professional development and excellence in admissions.
ANNUAL EXCELLENCE AWARDS CEREMONY 2025-26
To recognise commitment, passion, and outstanding contributions to academic excellence and school culture, the Principal conferred the Excellence Awards on January 14, 2026. The ceremony celebrated the dedication, innovation, and efforts of educators and support staff who consistently go beyond expectations.
The awards honoured diverse contributions, including collaboration (Helping Hand Award), creative teaching (Classroom Alchemist Award), going beyond assigned duties (Extra Mile Award), and maintaining exemplary classroom environments (Perfect Classroom Award). Staff were also recognised for professional growth (Maximum Training Hours Award), upholding discipline (Best Discipline Award), and long-term service of 10 years (A Journey to Remember Award).
The event was a proud and inspiring moment for the school community, reinforcing the value of dedication, teamwork, and continuous growth. The Principal and Headmistresses congratulated the awardees and encouraged all staff to keep striving for excellence.
AN INSPIRING VISION BY THE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL TO SET THE PATH FOR 2026
At GDGPS Sector 48, the New Year began with a visionary meeting led by Principal Mrs. Anuradha Handa, outlining priorities for the 2026–27 session and reinforcing a shared sense of purpose.
The focus was on strengthening core pillars—well-being, discipline, relationships, purpose, and growth—alongside aligning Infrastructure, Staff, and Programs to create a supportive learning environment.
Emphasising originality and critical thinking through the message “Be a star, not a moon,” teachers were encouraged to be globally aware and value-driven.
The session concluded with renewed motivation and commitment to nurturing confident, future-ready learners.
VARTAH 6.0 HELD AT GDG UNIVERSITY SOHNA
“Vartah 6.0,” held at GD Goenka University, focused on academic pressure and student well-being under the theme “Mind over Marks.” The inaugural address highlighted the need to move beyond marks-driven success.
Sessions covered resilience through sports psychology, the impact of performance pressure on self-worth, coping with expectations, and the role of schools in building emotionally responsive and inclusive environments.
The summit reinforced the importance of mental well-being and the role of educators in nurturing resilient, balanced learners.
PEDAGOGY : PLAY-BASED AND EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING
The session was for teachers teaching students of Nursery & Kindergarten and centered on shifting from traditional rote learning to active, student-centered methodologies. Resource Person, Ms. Shailja Chauhan discussed key strategies including storytelling, role-play, and hands-on exploration. Educators were trained on how to design activity-based lessons that encourage curiosity and allow children to learn through experience and play, which is vital for the developmental stage of Foundation Class students.
UNDERSTANDING TEXTBOOKS AND CURRICULUM MAPPING
This workshop organized by team GDGPS for the teachers teaching Classes 1 and 2, focused on the critical alignment between instructional materials and educational standards. Participants explored the structure of current textbooks and practiced "curriculum mapping" to ensure that learning objectives are met sequentially. The session taken by resource person Ms. Chandeep Marwah, emphasized identifying gaps in the curriculum and supplementing textbook content with diverse resources to meet varied learner needs.
LANGUAGE AND LITERACY FOUNDATION
This workshop addressed the building blocks of communication: Phonics, vocabulary acquisition, and reading readiness. During the training, Ms. Chandeep Marwah highlighted the importance of integrating language across subjects, ensuring that literacy is developed not just in English or Hindi periods, but throughout the school day. Strategies for creating a print-rich environment and supporting early readers were shared.
FOUNDATIONAL YEARS TEACHERS WORKSHOP ON ASSESSMENT FOR LEARNING
A comprehensive professional development workshop on Assessment for Learning was organised by GD Goenka Group for foundational years teachers.
The session focused on understanding assessment as an ongoing and meaningful part of teaching rather than a one-time evaluation. Teachers were guided on observation-based assessment, documentation of children’s learning and the use of simple tools to track progress in a child-friendly manner.
The workshop also highlighted how timely feedback and reflective practices can support individual learning needs, promote active engagement and strengthen purposeful, child-centred classroom practices.
UNDERSTANDING EVS IN FOUNDATIONAL CLASSES
