About me: I am both a librarian and IT professional and currently lead the IT DevOps Team at Denver Public Library where I have worked for 8 years.
I've cultivated teams that share common purpose and when things get tough, our ability to overcome challenges together increases exponentially. I like that stuff.
I started as a cataloging assistant at a law school library, keeping a card catalog in sync with a (normal) database catalog with the help of an IBM typewriter. Then, I worked at NYU Health Sciences Libraries eventually specializing in website management. Next, I went to library school and moved to Colorado and have been hooked on public libraries ever since.
I learned a ton about myself and what I wanted to do with my career in the 2010-11 CALLI cohort and went on to lead IT teams at several Front Range public library systems.
I taught a graduate class in web content strategy at the iSchool at Syracuse University, earned certifications in several aspects of Agile leadership and have presented on a variety of topics at both state and national library conferences.

About me:
I began my career in libraries in 2002 at the Main Branch of Mesa County Libraries as a Library Assistant in the Reference department. I received my Masters in Library and Information Science in 2008 and started my professional career at Garfield County Libraries where I worked for thirteen years. In 2021, I became the Executive Director of the Basalt Library. The best thing about being Executive Director is that I get to be both a librarian and an administrator. I get to help staff be better at their jobs, help guide policy and procedure development, and I still get to work directly with the public from time to time. It doesn't get better than that!
In my spare time, I enjoy hanging out with friends, going to concerts, reading (of course) and fly fishing.

About Me:
I’ve spent my career looping the state only to end up back where I started on the western slope (best slope!) of Colorado. My career adventure began at Mesa County Libraries as the Head of Information Services. After seven years at MCL, I moved on to a grant-funded position with the Colorado State Library as a technology trainer. I realized a major career goal in Gunnsion when I was appointed Executive Director of Gunnison County Libraries. Most recently, I served as Executive Director of Bemis Public Library. My love of western Colorado pulled me back "home," and I'm currently working as the Branch Libraries Director for Garfield County Library District. Being a good listener and communicator, learning how to give constructive feedback, growing my emotional intelligence muscle, and maintaining a perpetually positive attitude has helped me be successful.
As I’ve developed as a leader I’ve found that I’m most drawn to ways I can grow leaders within my own organization and the profession through coaching, developing strengths, and encouraging risk-taking. Education: CALLI Cohort, 2010-11. MLIS, Emporia State University, 2007. MA in Literature, Kansas State University, 2004.

About Me:
I joke that I oozed my way into public libraries. I started in 2008 as a volunteer at the branch by my house at the time, and over the next few years became a sub, bookmobile driver, Outreach Associate, and Assistant Manager in Oklahoma. At Jefferson County Public Library I started as the Public Services Supervisor in Golden, then the Manager of the Mountain Libraries and Patron Experience Design, and as of June 2024 I'm the Manager at the Lakewood Library and Patron Experience Design.
My life philosophy is "We rise by lifting others" (Robert Ingersoll) and that's been an important part of my library career. Working in Outreach for four years gave me a breadth of experience working with all communities in the area and as I've worked my way up in two library systems I've continued to apply the knowledge and experiences I gained at a variety of positions in public libraries. The people are what make libraries work!

About Me:
I am a Denver native. I attended Regis University as an undergraduate student and received my Masters in Library Science from the University of Denver. After graduation, I joined the Peace Corps in El Salvador where I worked as a Municipal Development volunteer.
My research interests include storytelling, underserved library populations, and career development. I am also a published author and wrote a memoir called A Life in Five Years. It is a collection of stories detailing the process of coming out, hiking the pilgrimage route of the Camino de Santiago, joining the Peace Corps, and my experience with thyroid cancer. The chapters in this book explore the themes of identity, finding meaning, familial relationships, adventure, and illness.

About Me:
I'm an accidental librarian, with over 15 years in the profession and a passion for serving adults. My first library job was working in circulation for a public library during my undergraduate studies. From there, my career journey has taken me from Ohio to Colorado and includes hospitality and non-profit fundraising, plus public libraries.
It was while fundraising for a Denver-area nonprofit that I was compelled to shift back into public libraries and earn my MLS. Most recently I held several positions with Jefferson County Public Library, focusing on adult services, reference, and training. As of 2024, I'm a part of Denver Public Library's Central Reference Team. I love that I get to serve my entire community and cultivate a sense of curiosity and connection as a public librarian. I also fervently believe that we can be effective leaders and change makers no matter the position we hold within an organization. Outside of work I enjoy spending time outdoors, traveling, and am learning how to make jewelry.

About Me:
Hello! I have worked in Colorado libraries for over 15 years - more if you count my time as a work-study library assistant. My experience is mainly on the academic side of things but I've also worked and volunteered in public and charter school capacities. I earned my B.S. in Biology at Western Colorado University and worked my way up from library assistant to Director of Library Services. Working in a smaller academic library means that I still get to do some of the hands-on, interactive bits while steering the ship.
Professionally, I am interested in OER, information design, and organizational culture/team dynamics. I'm a graduate of the 2008 Mountain Plains Library Association (MPLA) Leadership Institute and the 2018-2019 CAL Leadership Institute. I've served as the Colorado representative to MPLA, a CAL Board Member-at-Large, and now, as a CALLI new board member. Personally, I enjoy (trying) to cook dishes from other cultures, cycling, playing video & board games, and listening to audiobooks a little more than reading these days.
