Think about your top five strengths. Think about your goals for the next year. Develop and write down three professional goals, one for the short term, one for the medium term, and one for the long term. These goals should follow the SMART format. During our coaching session, we will dive into creating action steps to prompt forward motion toward one of your goals.
Participants will:
Practice setting goals, coaching a colleague, and being coached by a colleague
Learn how to write an effective goal
Discuss the difference between coaching and supervising
Gain skill with a tool they can immediately apply at their own workplace
By the end of the session, you will:
Identify effective communication behaviors
Gain techniques for giving and receiving feedback
Build skills to negotiate conflict
Identify your unique leadership style

Sharon Morris
Sharon Morris served on the team that developed CALLI and served on the committee and as an instructor for several years. She also co-developed leadership institutes statewide for Arkansas, California, Oklahoma, and Texas, as well as for the national Association of Rural and Small Libraries. She offers keynotes, workshops, and institutes on leadership, management strategies, research, communications, values, and improv comedy, among other subjects. Her instructional approach involves experiential learning because everyone in the room has something wonderful to contribute. Sharon’s library career ranges from working at the Denver Public Library for 10 years, the Colorado State Library for more than 20 years, and doing library software development and video production. Sharon holds a Master’s in Library and Information Management and Ph.D. in Managerial Leadership in Libraries.
