HIGH SCHOOL CLASSES

This course covers the local, national, and global definitions, history, and scope of agriculture in society. It also encompasses plant and animal sciences, production and processing, agricultural mechanics, including tool and machine operation, business and natural resource management, food and fiber systems, soil characteristics, formation, and properties, as well as leadership and communication skills development.
This course focuses on strengthening students' personal and group leadership skills in the agricultural field. Topics covered include public speaking, effective communication, human relations, parliamentary law, group dynamics, and the development of Programs of Activity and Service-Learning projects.
This course focuses on the science of plants, specifically botany. It covers topics such as photosynthesis and respiration, the analysis of plant and animal cell structure differences, genetics, taxonomy, and classification. Additionally, it includes entomology, soil chemistry, plant diseases, the life cycles of viruses and bacteria, and their effects on plant growth. The emphasis is on horticultural crops, including greenhouse, landscape, and floral plants.
The course imparts information about the care and management of domesticated animals, including animal nutrition, health, reproduction, genetics, facilities, marketing, and the study of anatomy and physiology of livestock and other domestic animals. It examines developmental stages and analyzes feed rations for different parts of an animal's life cycle. Additionally, it identifies environmental factors that affect an animal's performance and recognizes animal behaviors to facilitate working with animals. This course may include dairy cattle and equine.
MIDDLE SCHOOL CLASSES
Discover hands-on agriculture classes at Los Alamitos Middle School in introductory and exploratory agriculture. Enrollment in at least one ag class is required to join FFA and participate in leadership, competitions, and community events.
Covers a wide range of topics in the agricultural industry, exposing students to various career opportunities within agriculture and related fields. As the name suggests, this course mainly introduces the agricultural field, allowing students to pinpoint and concentrate on areas for further study.
