These are some different designs for anvils I created. I think I prefer the middle one most due to its more complex design as well as the fact I prefer the cooler blue colour scheme. This also works well due to blue being one of the more favoured colours in my target audience.
These are some furnace designs I created. I tried to be quite experimentative with the shading and how it would react with the brick pattern, but I think my favourite design is the middle one as it helps the bricks to stand out more, giving it more detail and depth.
This was my process in designing a grindstone asset. I struggled quite a lot in making the initial outline due to the quantity of different parts and complex shapes included in the design, however once I ended up with something I was happy with I tried it out with two different colour palettes. I prefer the colour scheme on the right due to the highlights on the wood not being as prominent as I feel they look quite strange on the middle design.
These are some other assorted props I created. Once I had created the first few assets, I started to understand how creating isometric pixel art worked better and so I could create these ones much more easily than my first few items.
This image showcases how I planned out my table asset before I comitted to colouring and shading it. I created some blue guidelines to divide up the table so that I could confirm that each table leg would be equally spaced.
These are two sprites I made for a blacksmith's mallet. I prefer the second one due to the more complex shape of the head giving it more detail, however it will have to be scaled down quite a bit in my final diorama so I am not sure how much of that detail I will be able to retain.
This is an armour stand asset I created. I really like how this design turned out with the legs forming a cross section as well as the slopes connecting the cross to the main beam as I think I pulled off the shape really well and I think it looks quite accurate to my references.
These images showcase how I figured out how to create a rounded barrel in a 2D pixel art style. I started with a simple vertical cuboid, then added curvature to its edges and removed any lines left inside to give me the rough shape I'd need. From there, I just added details.
