Here, you are expected to provide information for 2 potential ideas that your final product could be.
What specialism are you using? 2D, 3D, Programming, etc?
What will this project include?
Can you explain your visual style?
What programming mechanics will be added to this project?
Idea 1: Sci-fi animal mech design
My specialism for this project will be 2D, although I could use 3D blockouts to help me keep the form and proportions of my design consistent.
This project will include a mechanical creature design that is comprised of features from various animals, similar to many mythological creatures such as chimeras or griffins. I will present the design in multiple angles, showcasing the front, back and side of the design to showcase its features clearly as well as one dynamic pose. I will also create and showcase different parts of weapons or defenses included in the design, with annotation explaining their functions. Also included will be a colour palette and a brief description of the character, allowing for some worldbuilding and context. Finally, the project will display some of my ideas generation such as silhouettes, photobash concepts and rough sketches on separate slides.
My visual style will be quite clear, leaving enough padding between images and text to avoid feeling cramped and ensuring the colours of the background do not resemble the contents of the page to closely to ensure everything stands out and is readable. The placement of the drawings will have the dynamic pose taking up most of the page to appear impactful and eye-catching, whilst the angled shots displaying the features will be smaller. The annotated features will most likely have a dedicated page to them to avoid cluttering the main designs, however I will make a more informed decision when I have created all of the required assets. I will experiment with theming the layout to balance a theme that crosses the contrasting ancient and futuristic themes, with weathered, papyrus sheets and old, serif fonts, contrasting sleek and mechanical styles with machine-like, pixelated text. I will do multiple iterations of layouts until I find one that I think combines the two themes without appearing too jarring whilst also balancing the presentability and legibility in a satisfactory way.
Idea 2: Fusion character design
My specialism for this project will be 2D, however again I could use 3D blockouts for assistance.
This project will include a character design that is a fusion of two characters with contrasting themes, such day and night. I will present the character in a dynamic pose as well as turnarounds that display their outfit and other accessories. I will also display the component characters that fused to create this new character, although I won't be spending as much time polishing and creating high quality art of them in comparison to the fusion.
My visual style will dedicate the majority of the space on one page to the main dynamic pose, with a smaller amount being dedicated to the turnarounds. I will have two separate pages showing the characters that compose the fusion, giving them names and brief descriptions as well as simple drawings and turnarounds. The designs of the pages will be themed around the characters, e.g. dark and celestial tones for a character that would be themed around night. The fusion's page could either be split, separating the two themes, or be entirely a combination of the two, such as dusk/sunset. I will also have some additional pages that showcase my initial sketches and ideas generation that led to the creation of the character designs.
