Project Title:
Sci-fi Mythological Mech.
Pathway:
2D
Outline:
My project will consist of a sci-fi themed mechanical creature with features resembling different elements of various different animals, fused together similar to ancient mythological creatures, such as chimeras and griffins. I will draw this design in a dynamic pose, as well as 2 turnarounds showcasing its front and side.
The mech will have various weapons integrated into its design, such as a flamethrower, various firearms, and retractable blades with each receiving its own close-up drawing and description.
Asset List:
Dynamic Pose
Turnarounds
Close-ups of features
Annotation of features
Description and worldbuilding
Workflow:
Explain the process you will need to go through to create your project.
To create my project, I will first explore some notable features of various animals, mechs and robots in moodboards to find interesting and unique features to include in my design. I will then take some ideas I like and photobash them into several creature designs. Next, I will create some silhouettes to help ensure my design will be recognisable and distinct. Then, I will create some rough sketches of my photobashed designs, trying to stay within the shape of the silhouettes as well as create some rough 3D blockouts for how these designs could be interpreted in a 3D space. I will then experiment with colouring the rough sketches to find colour schemes that work well together and fit my theme. Finally, I will create high-quality, finished drawings that display the entire design, complete with shading and lighting, as well as creating some boards to present the design onto.
Presentation:
How do you plan to present your project to a professional standard? Provide details.
You should aim to provide images where possible.
My project will be presented in a landscape 1920x1080 resolution. The dynamic pose will take up a large portion of the page whilst the turnarounds will be presented in a smaller, uniform size to the side of it. The title of the project will be presented in large print in the top right corner with the description below it, taking up the right side of the screen in a smaller font size.
The close-ups of features and their annotations will be presented on a second page, having their locations shown on a simplistic side-view of the character with the annotation being written in small text next to the close-ups.
The overall theme of these pages will attempt to find a balance between futuristic and ancient mythology, with vibrant lights and pixelated text contrasting with wrinkled paper and script fonts. I will try multiple variations and iterations of styles until I find one that is legible and visually interesting/pleasing.
