Task 4.2 - Development Log
Development Logs serve as weekly diaries throughout your project, and should be completed each week to ensure that your progress, development & thought process can be tracked.
Consider the following:
What did I do this week?
How do I feel about the work I completed?

Week 1 (27/11/23)
What I did -
This week, I started on my critical report, creating a rough plan for points I would talk about and researching into the history of 2D art, both inside and outside the context of games. I also started writing a portion of the actual report, going over different artistic workflows such as painting and how they were first achieved.
What will I do next week? -
Next week I will continue my progress on the critical report as I think it is important to ensure I complete this task quickly due to its size to ensure I have enough time to go over it and have enough time to focus on the rest of the project.
Week 2 (4/12/23)
What I did -
This week I have written a lot more for my critical report, going over the origins of 2D digital art, and have started on my theme mindmap and moodboards themed around Fusion. I have also written some brief annotation for my moodboards, but have not finished them yet.
What will I do next week? -
Next week I will finish my moodboards and annotation to prepare for the interim deadline that is coming up.
Week 3 (11/12/23)
What I did -
This week I finished my moodboards for my Fusion project as well as their annotations. I also went back over my critical report and made some slight adjustments to anything I saw that I thought could be improved or reworded to be made more clear.
What will I do next week? -
Next week I will try and get some decent progress done on my personal statement as I will have more time to do it earlier in the break rather than later when it is closer to Christmas and I have more events planned.
Week 4 (18/12/23)
What I did -
This week I went back to my personal statement and wrote a good portion of my draft based on my notes and plan.
What will I do next week? -
Next week I will try and get a bit more of my personal statement done as well as maybe try and get some progress done on a portfolio project, however I don't know how much time I will get to focus on college work due to holiday events.
Week 4 (25/12/23)
What I did -
I didn't get much work done this week due to visiting family and having a few Christmas events, but I still managed to find some time to contribute slightly towards my personal statement draft.
What will I do next week? -
Next week I will be going back to college, so I will try and assess what I still have left that needs doing and begin working towards completing my projects.
Week 5 (1/1/24)
What I did -
This week I picked up progress on my Unit 12 work, creating two project ideas for the theme fusion, being a mechanical creature design and a fusion character design. I also completed my proposal, choosing to make the mechanical creature design and going over what would be included in my project. I also did some research into sea life and created a moodboard themed around it for one of my Unit 11 projects.
What went wrong? -
I had planned to do some planning and sketches for my portfolio projects earlier in the week but my personal drawing tablet at home has stopped working, so I am currently trying to resolve the issue as if I can't fix it, my progress towards these projects will be very negatively impacted.
What will I do next week? -
Next week I will try and fix my tablet to resume work on Unit 11, however if I am unable to fix it I will try and find another way to progress to ensure I don't fall behind.
Week 6 (8/1/24)
What I did -
This week I created some photobashes and silhouettes for my sea life project, as well as some rough sketches I made over the silhouettes.
What will I do next week?
Next week I will complete my sea life character concepts and display it on my portfolio.
Week 7 (15/1/24)
What I did -
This week I finished sketching and colouring three character concepts themed around sea life and have made sheets for them displayed on my portfolio. I also created some thumbnails for other personal projects I have completed and have displayed those on my portfolio as well. Finally, I finished my final evaluation for Unit 11 to complete it in time for the deadline. I also started some work on Unit 12, creating multiple moodboards and starting on some photobashing.
What will I do next week?
Next week I will continue working on Unit 12 as with Unit 11 complete I will be able to focus a lot more of my work onto completing it.
Week 8 (22/1/24)
What I did -
This week I started focusing all of my attention onto Unit 12 now that Unit 11 is complete. I created a plan for what I would be doing each day and have made great progress in my project, completing my initial ideas generation with some photobashes, silhouettes, sketches, blockouts and colour ideas, as well as starting on my final pieces, having done their sketches and lineart.
What will I do next week?
Next week I will continue following my plan, finishing my drawings and shading, presenting them on sheets and creating some descriptive annotation.
Week 9 (29/1/24)
What I did -
This week I completed my Unit 12 project, finishing my drawings and presenting them on stylised presentation boards. I also completed my blog work, such as annotation and my final evaluation.
What will I do next week?
Next week I will be briefed on Unit 13 and will begin work on it.
