TASK 8 | VIDEO PRESENTATION
TASK 8 | VIDEO PRESENTATION
TASK: [90 mins]
All groups will create a 90 second video presentation (2 mins MAX)* that explains the problem and their proposed solution - start by explaining the solution and then the need for it (the problem).
This video will be shared externally - keep it professional.
EXAMPLE PRESENTATION [1]
EXAMPLE PRESENTATION [2]
EXAMPLE PRESENTATION [3]
STEPS:
Create a slide deck to accompany your video (if needed) - you will need to scan and photograph your work for this. Cite/source any images used that aren't yours
Introduce your group (group name) and what you have created at the start of the video
Explain your design and the problem it helps to solve + how
*You may find a quiet space on campus if you need to film
The video presentation should:
Be up to 2 minutes long (max)
Include visuals (graphics, models, etc)
Be concise, focusing on the solution and the impact it could have
Get to the point quickly (follow the Minto Pyramid method below)
*This may be shared externally - be professional
Use an iPad or your MacBook to film
Use the Minto Pyramid method to give your communication a top-down structure and get your message across quickly and clearly. Lead with the conclusion, then provide key arguments and finally support them with detailed information.
Starting with the conclusion hooks the viewer in early so that you can then begin to explain your purpose, process, and findings.
CREATING YOUR VIDEO
You may record your video presentation using either your laptop or an iPad. You may wish to be in it or talk over a screen recorded Slides presentation, either is fine.
SCRIPT
1. Create a short script so that you know what to say and when. Stick to the key points and use the MINTO PYRAMID method explained above.
ORIENTATION
2. Shoot in LANDSCAPE, not portrait. This way, you can fit more onto the screen and it can be viewed on a laptop more easily.
SOUND
3. Test and make sure that the sound levels are correct and that you can be heard. Sound levels can also be adjusted in iMovie.
USE CANVA
Canva can help to create your video. If you're logged in with your school account, you can access additional features like finding relevant images.
This video (left) shows you how to create a video slideshow. You will narrate (speak) over it, explaining your solution and process. and can also drop in video clips if you've taken some.
Stick to the 2 minutes time limit!
Each group will submit their video, a TWO MINUTE pitch, to the Google Drive folder linked below. This way, they can all be shared in one place for others to view (and vote for). You may be asked to sign in - use your school Google account.
ONE person from each team should upload the video

You will use your video, blue planning board and prototype during a 60 minute expo whereby parents, teachers and students will visit your group to hear all about the problem, your process, and ideas.
Note how the board is well organised & presented, ready to be used to share information and process with others...
