At UWCSEA, students learn to use and apply a range of tools and models, such as the Sustainability Compass, the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the iceberg model and concepts of circular economy and permaculture. This encourages students to understand the systems in which the initiative will live and create solutions with multifaceted approaches that engage in direct action or indirect action through advocacy and research. With this in mind, whilst participating in this project, it is important that we are mindful of the fact that 265+ students are involved and that any decisions to use materials and resources must be justified to minimise waste and our impact on the environment. Students are encouraged to make environmentally conscious decisions that are informed by prior learning and understanding of sustainability.
