TASK 7 | PROTOTYPING
TASK 7 | PROTOTYPING
TASK: [200 mins]
Having researched the problem and biomimetic strategies, you should have now completed brainstorming, sketching, planning and designing possible solutions. Therefore, you should now create a final prototype that will be used to present and communicate your idea in both your video presentation and expo (coming up next).
Depending on the problem assigned and the suggested outcome, you may be creating a physical prototype, a digital CAD render, a coded robot , flow chart or written document - there is no one correct medium. Choose what you feel is most suitable and best communicates your ideas
Add evidence of your final prototype (photographs/scans) to the final outcome slide in the project portfolio
Note: This final 'prototype' will be shared with others - consider the quality of the presentation of it.
YOU SHOULD HAVE SKETCHES, CAD MODELS AND A PHYSICAL PROTOTYPE TO PRESENT AT THE END - ASSIGN ROLES FOR EACH WITHIN YOUR GROUP.
Once complete, add evidence of your final prototype (photographs/scans) to the final outcome slide in the project portfolio
ASSIGN ROLES, PLAN AND SHARE THE WORKLOAD. COLLABORATE.
WHAT CAN THE FINAL PROTOTYPE BE?
Your final 'prototype' is essentially the thing that you use to propose and/or test your idea at the end of the project. You will use this to communicate your idea to others and it should feature in your final presentation. Physical prototypes are often best for testing your idea but many ideas may be conceptual at this stage and so a detailed visual representation is also fine, provided that it communicates enough information.
PHYSICAL PROTOTYPE
SKETCHED PROTOTYPE
DIGITAL PROTOTYPE
SYSTEMS PROTOTYPE
NOTE: You may have a number of sketches, CAD models, flow charts and physical prototypes that lead up to this final outcome.
CHECKLIST
You have a digital or physical prototype created and ready to present
You have planning and supportive documents and sketches
You have added images of the prototype to the portfolio 'final outcome' slide
