Participation:
A learning management system may offer access to multiple data points which can be compiled through the report feature of the system. These reports can assist with progress monitoring on goals and learning.
If not using a learning management system, other methods of gathering information on progress will need to be explored. Although written tasks completed by the student serve an important role in collecting information on progress, any method of data collection (interview, observation, or product) will be valuable and can assist when done in an ongoing, periodic manner. Because direct, daily contact with the student will be more limited, more periodic reviews of the data available may be warranted.
Communication:
Periodic communication on the student’s progress should be considered. Reports on the student’s progress can be provided in written (email or formal, written forms) or verbal (phone calls, conferencing tools like Google, Skype, or Zoom) manner.
Teams may consider how reports on progress are noted in the student’s IEP and adjust the frequency and method to account for the reviews of data collected through various methods used to garner enough information and evidence to support efforts to evaluate the student’s progress and make determinations on the effectiveness of the instruction for learning.
Content/Fidelity of the Process:
Teams may consider making adjustments to instruction based upon data collection.
Documentation:
IEP Teams should address method of progress monitoring and mode of reporting
