ASL 709: Candidates with extensive media, film and editing experience may apply for Sign Language Media Production waiver.

ASL 752 & ASL 790: The practicum and internship site and cooperating teacher must be approved by the department in advance. Candidates with extensive ASL teaching experience and/or full-time employment in the ASL teaching field may apply for a practicum and/or internship waiver.

Want to substitute a required MASLED elective with another elective course at Gallaudet or elsewhere?

This link includes the MASLED required course of study (2nd tab) and course descriptions (third tab).

If you want to "substitute" any of these required course electives with a different course offered at Gallaudet or elsewhere, you will need to review the MASLED required course electives and course descriptions first.
Study the course description of the course you'd like to take instead of the required course. Which required course closely aligns with the the course you'd like to take?
Then identify the required course(s) that you'd like to substitute your selected course elective with.
Finally, obtain a copy of the syllabus for the course you'd like to take, and
And submit the 1) syllabus of the course you'd like to take, 2) the name of required MASLED course(s) you'd like for your course to substitute for, and 3) your rationale to masled@gallaudet.edu in one email.

This option is usually more available for MASLED students who are local and are able to attend on-campus classes. However, for those are interested in substituting your required courses with another course, you can check out online courses offered at Gallaudet and through Online Consortium of Independent Colleges and Universities (OCICU)
