Congratulations on being offered admission to Gallaudet's Graduate School!
Have you received access to the Admitted Graduate Students Portal? Be sure to log in with your Gallaudet email address. This website contains important information about what you need to do before you begin your graduate program. Review the steps involved in morphing into a full-fledged Gallaudet Bison!
1) Have you paid your Admission fee of $100* to Graduate School?
When you receive the admit letter online, it comes with an enrollment form with the following options:
After you submit the form, you are taken to the Nelnet payment page immediately. This is where you can make the Admission Fee payment. If you choose to skip, you will need to go to Self Service Center when you are ready to make the payment.
*Deferred - you can only defer your admission to the following year. After that, you'll have to apply for the program again.
*The admission fee is non-refundable*
2) Have you set up your Gallaudet email address?
Set up your Gallaudet email address here: http://newuser.gallaudet.edu. More details on how to set up your Gallaudet email address is in your admit letter. You will need your student ID number listed in this letter too.
Use your Gallaudet email address all the time when corresponding with people on campus. If you try to use your personal email to contact units on campus, your personal email may be quarantined as spam and you might wonder why people aren't responding to your email. Your Gallaudet email address also verifies your identity so we know you are actually the person we are talking to (personal emails can come from, well, anyone!). Your Gallaudet email account will give you access to Gallaudet email system, Bison, and Blackboard.
It is very important that you check your Gallaudet email address on a regular basis.
Issues? E-mail ITservicedesk@gallaudet.edu including your name, your date of birth and the last four numbers of your Gallaudet ID.
PRO-TIP: Have you completed your 2-Step Verification for your Gallaudet email account? You can do this here!
3) Complete the "Incoming Student Survey" <-- click here for the survey!
(If you don't do this, you can't start classes ---> this is important)
Issues? Please contact Graduate Admissions (graduate.school@gallaudet.edu)
4) Graduating with a BA degree the same month you're entering the MASLED program?!: If you have not yet graduated with your Bachelor's degree but you will in May, that means Gallaudet still needs your most recent official transcript indicating conferral of a BA degree. Please remember you must have your final, official transcript indicating your bachelor's degree was conferred, sent to Graduate Admissions before you can start classes in May!
PRO-TIP: Graduating from Gallaudet with your BA? Order your transcripts NOW and add a special note saying to hold the transcript order until your degree has been conferred/posted. Registrar's office will mail your transcript to Graduate Admissions when your degree has been conferred/posted. Just in case, check with the Registrar's office to be sure your transcript has been mailed.
5) Financial Aid - For US citizens and permanent residents only.
Visit the Financial Aid website for details including contact information. If you have VR support, hope to receive assistance/scholarships or need student loans, you must complete the following prior to the first day of class (the earlier you do it, the possibility for more funds available).
Here are the links to FAFSA and IFAA Applications. For more details, please visit Financial Aid page on this website.
