Chris and Debra's Story
Chris and Debra's Story
I met Debra at Gallaudet College. I really liked her a lot and asked her for a date. She turned me down. I asked again some time later, and again she turned me down. I thought it would never work out between us since Debra thought I was weird.
Fast forward to 20 years later after my second divorce and her second divorce. Gallaudet used to send us the Alumni book back in the day. Debra looked up my name and saw I no longer had a spouse. She did look me up before that and saw that I was married. When she found out I didn't have a spouse, she called me and told me her name was Debra McIntosh and I told her I didn't know a "Debra McIntosh." She asked me to look it up in the yearbook and said that she would call me in a few days. I looked her up in the yearbook and good enough, I knew her by Kim (her middle name), which she gave me back in college.
She called me again and I told her I knew her by Kim, not Debra. She flew down to see me and I flew to see her. We had a long-distance relationship for several years and ended up getting married. Now we've been married for 21 years- a lot longer than either of our previous marriages. The third time's a charm and we're happily married.
