Population: youth grades 6-8 with depression and anxiety within a church youth group setting.
Goals: to provide resources for families and youth ministers to utilize during this “virtual” time in life, as well as provide direct, telehealth services to groups and individuals if possible.
Rationale: I greatly enjoy working with middle schoolers and feel as though I connect with them well. Middle school is a very transitional time, which means it is full of new emotions, discoveries, and difficulties. This is why I feel so drawn to this group, because they are at an important, formative place where they can begin making decisions for themselves that may affect their futures. Middle schoolers need guidance and mentoring, and music therapy can be a service that provides this to youth in hospitals, acute care, schools, private practices, and more.
