Are you getting ready to graduate? Make sure you have everything in order! Consult our MA Graduation Checklist for a list of items that need to be completed.
Students entering their final semester in the MA in Arts Administration degree should complete the following form to notify the Department of Arts Administration of their intent to take the required Graduate Examination. Please complete the form in the semester prior to the semester you wish to graduate. Once you complete this form, you will receive further instructions on preparing for graduation.
In order to meet the UK Graduate School requirements for graduation, students must complete a Graduate Final Examination. For Arts Administration MA students, the Final Examination consists of a 6-week, non-credit, no-pay examination based on a case study. The examination is delivered via Canvas.
Students will be eligible to sit for the Final Examination only if they have completed all coursework requirements for the degree, or if the remaining course work is in progress at the time of the examination. Students with “I” grades in credit-bearing courses are not eligible to sit for the final examination. The overall graduate GPA of the student must be 3.00 or better to sit for the examination. The final examination must be conducted and successfully passed no later than eight days before the last day of classes for the degree to be awarded at the end of that term (see the University Academic Calendar).
If the candidate fails the final examination, the committee may recommend to the Dean of the Graduate School the conditions under which a second examination may be administered. Insofar as it is practicable, the same examining committee gives this examination. In all decisions, the majority opinion of the committee prevails. If the committee is evenly divided, the candidate fails. A third examination is not allowed.
Please refer to the Graduate Examination Schedule for the dates of the exam by semester.
Students will not receive their diplomas at Commencement. Diplomas are mailed 4-6 weeks following the conclusion of each semester and submission of final grades.
The size of the diploma for a master’s degree is 8 ½” x 11”.
