The Internship Process Guide explains all the steps, deadlines, and procedures students must complete in order to register for and complete an internship in the Department of Arts Administration.
Students must earn 6 credits (300 work hours) of experiential learning from AAD 498: Arts Nonprofit Internship and AAD 499: Arts Administration Internship. Internships must be completed at an off-site location.
These credits must be earned through AAD 498 or AAD 499 in two separate internship experiences in two separate semesters for each experience. Students must complete a minimum of 3-credit hours (150 work hours) at an approved nonprofit arts organization (A-NPO). A second internship can be completed at another nonprofit arts organization, a non-arts nonprofit (NPO) or a for-profit arts organization (FPA).
Six credits of AAD 498: Arts Nonprofit Internship may be earned at a singular experience pending approval by the Internship Coordinator and the Director of Undergraduate Studies.
*NOTE: Not all organizations are approved for internship completion. Please have your internship site approved by the Internship Coordinator or the Director of Undergraduate Studies BEFORE completing the Learning Contract.
AAD 498/AAD 499 Learning Contract
AAD 399: Arts Administration Practicum is a university-based hands-on learning experience mentored by a university faculty or staff member, and counts toward elective credits (not your internship requirement). Practicums must be supervised by an Arts Administration faculty member. One credit hour is equal to 50 work hours. A maximum of 2-credit hours of AAD 399 can be taken per semester, and the course may be repeated to a maximum of four credits. This is a controlled enrollment course and a completed Learning Contract is required. The following learning contract MUST be completed and signed by all parties before the first hour of work is completed. Before you begin completing the Learning Contract, you need to have your internship location and work assignment, approved by the Internship Coordinator or the Director of Undergraduate Studies. AAD 399 is pass/fail option only.
