Task # 5 Identify Rhyming Words

Activity Goal: Identify and spell a word you know in order to change the beginning sound to say and spell a new word from the word you know. Finding rhyming words with the word you know.

Materials: Book, paper & pencil

Directions:

  1. Watch the video, pausing if you need time to spell a word.

  2. Follow along with the video to practice identifying and writing rhyming words.

Activity Goal: Give students opportunity to compare two groups' numbers.

Counting Collections is a weekly activity, where students get to explore many ways of counting up objects.

Materials: Paper, Pencil, and either Containers or Extra Paper

Directions:

  1. Student will choose a collection (at least more than 20).

If you cannot find a collection of more than 20, then combine two or more different groups together.

  1. Let students creatively sort the collection any way.

  2. Students record their collection onto their recording sheet.

Students need to complete at least one collection.

Activity Goal: You can say a word slowly to hear all the sounds from first to last, then write the letter or letters for each sound.

Materials: Paper, Pen or Pencil, Crayons or Colored Pencils

Directions:

  1. Make four large boxes on your paper.

  2. Choose any four words you want to learn to write and say them slowly. Challenge yourself to write some words that are new to you.

  3. Draw a picture in each box on your paper for the words you chose.

  4. Under each picture you draw, write the letters for the sounds you hear.
