Encourage your child to write 1 book a day
Make sure they spell sight words correctly. Practice saying the sight word and spelling the word together.
If they come to a tricky word, it is okay for students to write a letter for every sound they can hear when they stretch out a word. Inventive spelling is okay.
Ask prompting questions:
What is the topic of your book?
Do your pages go together so they make sense to a reader?
Does your picture match the pattern you wrote on the page?
How could you revise your thinking so the pattern and picture match?
