Phonics - Day 1
Make Letter Cards
If you do not have a full set of ABC Letter cards please make some as shown in the video. If you have magnetic letters or letters from a game such as scrabble that will also work.
Beginning Sounds Match
Matching letters to the beginning sound of objects using listening skills.
Sing Beginning Sounds
Don't forget to make your own word when you touch your toes!
Reading Day -1
Avid readers are people who love reading so much, they can hardly bear to stop reading!

Math - Day 1
Choral Counting
Activity Goal: Students will practice accurately rote count from 1-30.
Directions:
Students will count along with the video.
If families hear mistake, correct them.
Repeat.
Optional:
After counting all of the numbers, pause and look at the number chart of patterns and notices. Then share patterns and notices with your families.
Counting Collection
*For a more descriptive instruction on this lesson, refer to March 30-April 3.
Activity Goal: Give students opportunity to continue with counting accurately, organize the objects, and represent it on paper.
Counting Collections is a weekly activity, where students get to explore many ways of counting up objects.
Students need to complete at least one collection.
Writing - Day 1

Family Writing Tips
Families you can help your student in writing in the following ways:
Encourage your child to write 1 book a day
Make sure they spell sight words correctly. Practice saying the sight word and spelling the word together.
If they come to a tricky word, it is okay for students to write a letter for every sound they can hear when they stretch out a word. Inventive spelling is okay.
Ask prompting questions:
What is the topic of your book?
Do your pages go together so they make sense to a reader?
Does your picture match the pattern you wrote on the page? How could you revise your thinking so it makes sense to the reader?

Phonics - Day 2
Task # 1
Use your Sight Word Flashcards
Place them on a table or floor and slap them as you spell and read them
See how fast you can spell and read all your cards!
Task # 2 Watch & Learn

Help me find the missing letters while you watch
Try and say the letter before I write it
Task # 3 Ending Sounds
Find the missing letter at the end
Say the name of the picture out load to hear the sound at the end
The 3rd picture might be mistaken for a mouse. Remind students to use clues. "Does mouse have a R sound in the beginning?"

Reading - Day 2
Reading Lesson #2:
Avid Reader or Blah Reader
Have students share out why someone is an Avid Reader? Blah Reader?
Math Day - 2
Write Numbers from 1-30
Activity Goal: Students will write the numbers from 1-30.
Materials: Paper and pencil
Directions:
Students will write the numbers from 1-30, with or without using any resources.
Remind students to start from the top when writing each number.
Identify and correct student's mistakes.
Optional: They are welcome to write more.
Jungle Story Mat
Activity Goal: Students will problem solve open-ended questions (no wrong answers), explaining their thinking process to families.
Materials: Paper and Pencil
Optional: Coloring Utensils
Directions:
Students will watch video.
After each story problem, they will record their thinking.
They may re-watch the story problems if necessary.
Once they complete a story problem, students share their recording with families.
Repeat steps 1-3 with the other story problems.
Optional:
If difficult to solve all of them, have student try 1-2 story problems.
Families can create their own story problems!

Listen to the story that uses the question and answer pattern book structure for students to familiarize themselves with how to write in this new way.
Writing Lesson
Students will focus on planning their pattern book by orally rehearsing their book before writing. Then making sure their drawings connect to the question and answer pattern they chose.
Handwriting Practice
Students will practice their handwriting which works on their finger movement and eye hand coordination. Students work on size, alignment and spacing to develop control of their writing movements.

Reading Lesson #3: Reading Mat
The purpose is to keep a stack of books in-waiting!
You need two pieces of paper or a folder.
Title: My Reading Mat
On the inside left , green dot and on the inside right, red dot.
Draw an arrow from green dot to the red dot.
Draw an arrow on top going from the red dot side to the green dot side.
Math - Day 3
Bowl More, Add 1
Activity Goal: Students will mentally add and explain their thinking process.
Materials: Ten small objects and a container
Directions:
Partner 1 will grab a random number of objects.
Partner 1 and 2 will count the number of objects together.
Partner 1 will put the objects into the container. Then put one more object into the container.
Partner 1 will ask how many objects are in the container.
Partner 2 will state how many are in the container, while giving an explanation.
Afterwards, partners switch jobs and repeat the same process.
Play for at least ten minutes.
Optional: Put in more than one item as a challenge!

Task #2 Dance & Sing
Task # 3 Make CVC Words
CVC Word are consonant vowel consonant words that are spelled just like they look. Beginner Readers have success with these words because they can stretch the sounds to read the word.
Use these pictures to make your own CVC words like we did in the video above.
Choose at least 6 or challenge yourself and see how many you can do!

Reading Partners talk about their Books
Partners ask

and exclamation points so their writing sounds exactly the way they want it too.

Phonics - Day 5
Task #1 Spell and Read Sight Words
