Clinical Team


Members of the PRSD clinical team support numerous sites throughout PRSD. We are grateful to have them on site with us at ECS often. Members of the clinical team only work directly with a student with a approval of a parent/guardian. If you find that these services would be of benefit to your child(ren) we would encourage you to consult with our resource teacher and school administration.

Behaviour Analyst

The Behaviour Analyst is the individual responsible for assessing students with behaviour challenges, collecting data on the students, working with teachers, counsellors, and other student support specialists/clinicians to design and monitor a behaviour plan to support the student and to evaluate the effectiveness of the plan. The Behaviour Analyst is a uniquely qualified member of the divisional team who will support students’ abilityto learn and teachers’ ability to teach. They apply expertise in functional behaviour assessments and analysis to help children and youth towards being global citizens.

Occupational Therapist

Occupational Therapists are uniquely qualified members of school teams that support students’ ability to learn and teachers’ ability to teach. They apply expertise to help children and youth develop social skills, handwriting, fine motor, self-regulation & organizational skills. They work with teachers, make changes to the school environment, and introduce assistive technology to make school a better place for learning. Occupational Therapists collaborate with students, parents/guardians, families, the In-School Support Team (ISST) and the School Support Team to create safe, healthy and supportive learning environments that strengthen connections between home, school and the community.

School Psychologist

School psychologists are uniquely qualified members of school teams that support students’ ability to learn and teachers’ ability to teach. They apply expertise in mental health, learning and behaviour to help children and youth succeed academically, socially, behaviourally, and emotionally. School Psychologists collaborate with students, parents/guardians, families, the In-School Support Team (ISST) and the School Support Team to create safe, healthy and supportive learning environments that strengthen connections between home, school and the community.

School Social Worker

The first priority of the school social worker is to ensure that students perform their best academically; the school social worker will assist students in resolving personal, emotional and social issues that maybe interfering with their learning and overall functioning. Social work practice will be conducted in accordance with PRSD Continuum of Services Framework that includes phases of engagement, assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation and termination of services. School social workers are committed to continuous professional development and education as a means of maintaining competency in their practice and for being aware of the extent and parameters of their competence and shall limit the scope of their practice accordingly. School social workers are responsible for ensuring that their level of skill and knowledge is responsive to the changing demands of their practice and the changing situation of their clients. School social workers will conduct their professional activities with sensitivity and respect for their client’s unique cultural and ethnic context.

Speech Language Pathologist

The role of the speech language pathologist is to assess and diagnose the communication skills of children. To collaborate and consult with parents, educators, and community professionals in planning, coordinating, and implementing adaptations andmodifications in the learning/living environments of children. To design communication programs and provide supervision for therapy services.
