TRC & Orange Shirt Day
"Learn and spread the word. If we can do that, we can experience reconciliation in our life time." - Meg Sappowtay Ussinnee Olmstead
The staff, students and communities of Prairie Rose School Division live and work on the original lands of the Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota and Dene peoples, and the homeland of the Métis Nation. Prairie Rose School Division recognizes and celebrates the continued existence of Indigenous rights and respects the Treaties made on these lands. We acknowledge that our schools and offices are located on Treaty 1 Territory and in the heart of the Metis homelands.
This year for Orange Shirt Day we were honoured to have Meg Olmstead join us on site for a Jingle Dress workshop with all grade levels. Our team had engaging lessons, displays and activities throughout the month of September. Elm Creek Staff prioritize Indigenous education within our classrooms throughout the entirety of the school year.
