1. What are possible consequences of teaching purely subject matter for mastery and for the test?
Aside from not being effective teachers to the learners, one consequence from a learner's perspective is that the students will be enclosed in the four corners of the classroom, and the learning will not extend to the real world because the students are just bombarded with concepts but with no application. Students will study just for the sake of examinations, and what the teacher had taught would be easily forgotten.
2. If you were to reteach the classes you observed, would you be teacher-centered or student-centered? Why?
If we will teach, we would be implementing a student-centered classroom, because we want them to study and explore on their own. Individual students' learning needs, interests, goals, and cultural backgrounds will be addressed through "personalized" teaching and learning. Students will be able to make decisions about their own education and participate in the creation of learning experiences.
