Students must complete one World Language credit to graduate with a South Carolina Diploma.
Students may elect to take a Career and Technology Education course in lieu of a World Language course to fulfill their graduation requirement.
World Language courses are selected at the discretion of the student. World Language courses may meet the requirement for graduation from high school if the student has not completed a Career and Technology Education course.
World Language courses are typically started in the junior year of high school and students should strive to complete a course each semester. Freshmen may begin their World Language courses as part of the pre-IB curriculum, with the intent of continuing into the IB World Languages.
Students who intend to apply to a four-year college must complete at least two credits of World Languages.
Students who do not intend to apply to a four-year college are not required to take World Language courses.
