Driver's Education

Prerequisite: Learners Permit
Offered as an early bird class only and will begin at approximately 7:00 AM - 8 am for 8 days These are mandatory attendance per SCDMV office. . Students must provide their own transportation to this class for 8 consecutive days. Appointments will be made for sessions of behind the wheel driving on-the-road with the instructor. Students must be at least 15 years old and have a drivers permit or getting ready to get it within a couple weeks of the class; pay a registration fee of $250 or if free or reduced lunch its free or $50; receive a passing grade in the classroom in order to be allowed to get driver's license at the SC DMV office. You do not get your permit or llcense here at Socastee.
SHS recommends that all driver education students have school insurance or their own insurance
Leadership Development

Emphasizes leadership skills, goal setting, effective communication, group dynamics, human relations, problem solving, decision making, time management and stress reduction. Students will be required to perform school and community service.
Bible (Instructional Release Time)

Students will enroll in a Bible Education course through Coastal School Ministries. Students will be transported to and from school campus on a CSM bus to participate in a Bible study course. Bible and religious topics will be discussed. All religious backgrounds are welcome. Parent permission is required.

PHI 110 - Ethics (HGTC-Dual Enrollment)

This course is a study of the moral principles of conduct emphasizing ethical problems and modes of ethical reasoning.
Enrollment in this course requires acceptance to the PACE Program at HGTC. Fee may be required if student has not met the prerequisite.

Students who are classified as seniors and who meet the other criteria established by the Horry County Board of Education may apply for early release or late arrival for spring or fall semester. Completion of IGP required to request this option.

Students who fulfill their 24 credits to graduate by the end of their Fall Semester of Senior Year my elect to become a January Graduate. January Graduates are done with high school and have the option to participate in a graduation ceremony in January to receive their diploma, or participate in the graduation ceremony at the end of the school year. January graduates are no longer considered students at Socastee High School or Horry County Schools. Therefore, January graduates are unable to participate in any school related activity or event including, but not limited to Prom, Athletics, Clubs or Activities, Field Trips, Senior Trip, Senior Awards Ceremony, or Senior Picnic. Signed Permission is required at the start of the school year to be a January Graduate.
