The PACE Program at Horry Georgetown Technical College is designed for students to earn college credit while they are enrolled in high school. Students must be in their junior or senior year of high school, and must have a minimum of 3.0 GPA with no discipline issues to apply.
Students are responsible for providing their own transportation to and from the PACE program. During the junior year students may enroll in one course in the Fall and one course in the Spring. During the senior year students may enroll in two courses each semester.
Students must maintain a grade of 'C' or better to remain in the Progam.
PACE courses may require a fee depending on the course taken.
PACE courses are meant to present a challenging college level curriculum while enrolled in high school. Students are responsible for verifying transfer credits to the college or university of their choice.
Acceptance in the PACE Program requires a minimum GPA of 3.0 and an application process, as well completion of supplemental materials with HGTC (Parent Agreement, Verification of Citizenship, FAFSA Form) and selection of courses using a Google Form. Failure to complete all steps by the deadline will prevent a student from being approved for PACE.
Fall Deadline Date - May 1
Spring Deadline Date - December 1
Horry County School District may pay the cost of tuition and textbooks if a student has met the guidelines, and if student has exhausted their course options at the high school. If Socastee High School offers an equivalent course (i.e. AP level of a course) then the district may not pay for the course. In some instances, Socastee High School does not offer an equivalent level course for all PACE offerings.
Students must maintain a grade of 'C' or better in all PACE courses to remain in the program. Earning a grade of 'D' or 'F' or 'Withdrawal' from a course will result in student having to reimburse Horry County Schools for any cost incurred for the course, and will result in a potential drop in high school GPA since the grade will be recorded on the high school transcript.
Students will be responsible for following the HGTC Academic Calendar each semester for courses. HGTC and HCS calendars do not always match.
