Graduation Requirements

SC High School Graduation Requirements 

To earn a high school diploma in the state of South Carolina, students must complete required coursework with a minimum of  24 credits. 

English Language Arts 4 credits
Mathematics 4 credits
Sciences 3 credits (one credit of Biology is required)
US History and Constitution 1 credit
Government 0.5 credit
Economics and Personal Finance 0.5 credit
Other Social Studies 1 credit
PE or ROTC 1 credit
Computer Science 1 credit
Foreign Language or Career and Technology Education 1 credit
Personal Finance - (Starting with the Class of 2027) 0.5 credit
Electives 7 credits

Total 24 credits

SC Promotion Requirements

🙟 From 9th to 10th  Students must earn a total of 6 credits, including one in English and one in math.

🙟 From 10th to 11th Students must earn a total of 11 credits, including two in English and two in math.

🙟 From 11th to 12th  Students must earn a total of 16 credits, including three in English, three in math, two in science, and two in social studies.

South Carolina Uniform Grading Policy 

All grades on report cards and transcripts in South Carolina’s public high schools are numerical. Letter grades correspond to  numerical scores as outlined below:
