QPTS: Assessment- Last week we administered Pre-tests to our students. Please take a look at this article that helps to shape our thinking around this instructional activity: https://www.thoughtco.com/importance-and-uses-of-pretests-7674
Congratulations to all of our content teams for successfully engaging in the first round of content planning. You all jumped right in and you're off to a successful start.
Thank you to our clerical team. This time of year is always tough, but this year has been especially tougher as these ladies have had to juggle several tasks. They have worked together to support a seamless start to the school year.
Thank you to Joseph Sappington and Diane Brown. With the increased technology comes the increased need for tech support. These two have been hopping right along through it all. Thank you for all that you're doing!
Peak: Our students have been demonstrating positive behaviors over the past few days.
Valley: We still need to provide some reminders about dress code. Please review the student dress code for this school year with your students.

Fire Drill #1- August 16th:
Our first fire drill for this school year is scheduled for this coming Monday. Our students did very well last year with all drills, so we know that you will lead them well. Please make sure to read the email from Dr. Maresh sent Friday afternoon for the LMS Fire Drill norms and expectations.

1st Full Week of School Reflection
As we move into the second full week of school, let's review some steps for making sure that our students continue to have a great start to the school year. We will continue to need "all hands on deck" to make sure that we provide adequate supervision throughout the school day. Please help students with transitions throughout the school day. Here are some specific reminders:
Students should all have access to their schedule by now. Scheduling concerns should be mostly resolved, but please alert the grade level admin if you see a concern at this point.
Classroom teachers: Please stand at your door to greet students and monitor the hallways during each class change.
Remember to have your whiteboard set up and ready for instruction before students enter the room.
Students will continue to pick up lunch from the cafeteria and eat in their classroom. Please remind students to replace their masks when they are finished eating and monitor to ensure that proper distancing is occurring.
Building Opening and Closing Times
The school building opens at 7:30 AM each day.
The school building closes at 7:00 PM each day. The custodial staff sets the alarm at exactly 8:00 PM each day.

CLT
Our CLT sessions are on Tuesdays and Professional Learning takes place on Thursdays. CLT sessions will begin Tuesday, August 10. Please be on standby for the start date of our Professional Learning series. CLT takes place during each grade level planning period. Instructional support teachers (ESOL, IRR, and S/C SpEd) should plan to attend with a grade level you support. The CLT process is the backbone of the work we do at LMS, so attendance is mandatory.
COVID Updates
Mrs. StJames and Mr. Howe will continue to provide information and updates as it relates to the HRT process and COVID-19. There will be updates regarding COVID cases at our school through email when available. You can also visit the district website for updates as well.

Transitions
Please remind students about safety in the hallways. We are spending these first few days setting the tone for the rest of the school year. It is always easier to be highly consistent in the beginning, with the expectations that students will adopt the expectations on their own as the year goes on. Constant reminders and practicing are very normal at this time of year. Teachers should be in strategic locations to observe students in the hallways. Remember to communicate with your grade level administrator if there is ever a time that you cannot make it to your duty spot.
Please adhere to your grade level's lunch start and end time to ensure we protect our instructional time.
Safety Protocols
Complete a health assessment before leaving home. If you are not feeling well contact your grade level AP as soon as possible. If necessary, follow the absence/sub protocol immediately.
Wear masks in the classroom with students and throughout the building.
Wash your hands and use hand sanitizer throughout the day.
Remember to social distance as much as possible.
Sub Request
Please remember to request a sub as soon as you know you will not be at work on a given day.
If you are having trouble requesting a sub, please email Jennifer Ranne as soon as possible.
If you are going to be out in an emergency situation, send your grade level AP or myself a text message as soon as you know. Make sure to also communicate your absence with someone on your grade level team, so they know to assist a sub.
