Lilburn Middle School will become a Professional Learning Community committed to working collaboratively to engage students in learning in order to actualize student potential.
Lilburn Middle School is committed to engaging all students in learning the Academic Knowledge and Skills through research-based best practices with mastery being measured by local, state, national, and world-class standards and re-teaching/reassessing students as needed to actualize their potential.
We use research-based best practices to engage students in learning.
We build healthy relationships with our students, parents, and community members.
We provide appropriate interventions to support students in actualizing their potential.
We collaborate with our colleagues toward building a Professional Learning Community.
The percentage of students scoring in the Proficient and Distinguished categories will increase to 50% (or higher) with at least 10% Distinguished on the math, language arts, science, and social studies District Assessment Post tests and the Georgia Milestones EOC/EOG Assessments by 2023.
The parent perception survey weighted average of the theme scores will increase to 3.6 out of 4, while decreasing the percentage of students scoring in the lowest 10% of the student engagement inventory to 5% by 2023.
We will build our parents' capacity to support their children's academic achievement by implementing the activities identified in The Plan/The Promise.
We will be consistent and pervasive with effective instruction, assessment, and monitoring (aligned with the AKS), by collaboratively planning lessons that implement the Gradual Release Instructional Framework, Formative Instructional Practices, Technology, Critical Thinking, and Literacy.
Greetings!
YOU ARE ESSENTIAL TO OUR SCHOOL'S SUCCESS!
Let's remain SAFE, SOLUTION-FOCUSED, and SANE.
***Remember, we have the POWER of ONE!
We are STRONGER TOGETHER!
Your proud Principal,
Dr. Irish
Ruby Bridges was born on September 8, 1954, in Tylertown, Mississippi. When she was four years old, her parents moved to New Orleans, hoping for a better life. In 1960, when Bridges was in kindergarten, she was one of many African American students in New Orleans who were chosen to take a test, to determine if she could attend a white school.
Ruby Bridges was one of only six African American students to pass the test. She enrolled in the William Frantz School, becoming the first Black child to attend an all-white elementary school in the South. Only one teacher agreed to teach Bridges, but she had to teach her in a classroom alone, to keep Ruby safe. Even though some people were mean to Ruby and her family, she was brave! She went on to attend integrated schools all the way through high school.
Her bravery inspired many other children, and paved the way for integration of other schools in the South. Later, Ruby wrote two books about her early experiences, and received the Carter G. Woodson Book Award. In 1999, she established The Ruby Bridges Foundation to promote tolerance and create change through education. In 2001, she was awarded the Presidential Citizen’s Medal by former President Bill Clinton.
Today Ruby Bridges continues to promote education and racial equality.
COVID Update
Just a reminder, we are asking all LMS staff to make sure that you are following the COVID prevention guidelines that we have in place. If you do so, you can help us to keep our school healthy and safe and REDUCE the number of individuals who need to be quarantined. I want to keep our school as safe as possible and I need your help! Please help with this by 1) not gathering, unless necessary to do so (and you're able to socially distance), 2) remaining at home if you're sick or waiting for testing results, 3) communicating to us as soon as you are aware of any COVID related health concern, 4) wearing your mask properly throughout the day, 5) maintaining a safe distance from others as you go through the day. 6) Report any self or student COVID concerns to our school's HRT reps.
The QPTS helps to keep us grounded in our instructional practices. For more information, resources, articles, and tools, please click on the "Quality Plus Instructional Strategies link embedded within the "Teacher Resources" Heading on the portal.
This week’s QPTS Highlight Gone Digital Series focuses on how teachers may leverage small group instruction to scaffold student thinking, check for understanding, and differentiate student learning through Questioning. Also, check out how a dialogic interview format develops deep listening and builds community.

Early Release Dates February 17th and 18th (see your email with directions from Dr. Maresh)
This year in an effort to keep everyone safe during the pandemic, students will not exchange Valentine's Day cards and treats especially since we cannot provide an option to our digital students to participate without disrupting the school day. We will send a message out to parents through School Messenger. You can also share information with parents if they ask. Please let your grade level administrator know if you have any questions. We are hopeful that next school year, we will return to celebrating events with our entire student body as we have done in the past.
RBES Mid-Year Updates
