In the Maeda Laboratory, we conduct experimental research on semiconductor electronic devices. Specifically, we acquire semiconductor crystals, process them to prototype devices, and perform measurements and analyses. We fabricate structures incorporating unique ideas for improving device performance and elucidating material properties. These structures are created by our own hands, allowing us to precisely measure and analyze their characteristics.

I-V (DC: 0-200 V, pulse: 0-10 V), C-V (20 Hz to 1 MHz, 0-40 V)
・Photocurrent Measurement Systems (Asahi Spectrum MLS-1510, REX-250)
From UV to IR, power: uW to mW range, focusing light on DUT by lense
enabling the measurements of Schottky barrier height, band alignment of MOS/heterostuructures, avalanche multiplications, etc.
・Vaccuum Prober for Very Low Temperature
Temperature range: 6.5 K-475 K, high voltage measurement is also available
・Hall effect measurements

Takeda Clean Room
By utilizing the Takeda Advanced Clean Room (Takeda CR) at the University of Tokyo, we have the capability to fabricate semiconductor devices precisely according to designs with accuracies in the range of tens of nanometers. Proficiency in handling the equipment is, of course, necessary.
Located on the Asano Campus, Takeda CR is approximately a 5-minute walk from the Faculty of Engineering Building 3. In addition to the cleanroom, we also make use of shared measurement devices in the Takeda Advanced Knowledge Building (Tokyo University Materials Advanced Research Infrastructure, ARIM). Some examples of the equipment we use include spectroscopic ellipsometers, extremely low-temperature vacuum probes, atomic force microscopes (AFM), and scanning electron microscopes/energy-dispersive X-ray analysis (SEM/EDX).
Benefiting from the rich environment at the University of Tokyo, including the contributions of previous professors, we can conduct research seamlessly even during the initial stages of establishing the laboratory.

In the Maeda Laboratory, we actively engage in collaborative research with other laboratories within the University of Tokyo, as well as with universities, companies, and research institutions both domestically and internationally. Using cutting-edge semiconductor materials, we can design and prototype devices.
Through discussions with collaborative researchers, expanding our perspectives as researchers, we believe we can experience substantial growth. Some of our key collaborative partners include Tokyo University of Science, Sumitomo Electric Industries, Sumitomo Chemical, NTT Basic Research Laboratories, Nagoya University, Novell Crystal Technology, Osaka University, Mitsubishi Chemical, Cornell University, and others.
