A HUGE THANKS goes out to our newly formed Crossing Guard Crew. What a difference they are making for our morning walkers! If you are willing to volunteer for the crossing guard crew please fill out the interest form HERE. We are looking for helpers that can commit to working from 7:10-7:40 at intersections surrounding our school. We will supply the cool colored vests and stop signs. Woohoo!

TONIGHT: (Wednesday, Sept. 27th) is Curriculum Night at Savannah! Each grade level will conduct two identical sessions: one from 6:00-6:30 and one from 6:30-7:00. This will help parents who have students in multiple grade levels attend. Come see what your students will be learning this year!

A note this months data binder: Our teachers have completed beginning of year reading and math assessments. You will see info coming home soon. One important change: Savannah moved to a new reading assessment system this year called Fountas and Pinnell. This system is very rigorous and focuses on top notch reading comprehension. We are excited to use this system to continue reading growth in our students. Look for more detailed information on this system and your child's reading level in their data binder.

Important Dates for Angel Tree

October 9-15: Registration open for Angel Tree assistance (Click here to access the website and application.)
November 3: Public, online adoption begins, and Forgotten Angel adoptions begin at participating malls
December 3: Last day to adopt an Angel
December 1-2: Gift drop-offs occur with drive-thru locations all across North Texas
December 13-20: Distribution of gifts to families take place at various locations

important Reminders

Make sure you fill out a background check if you plan to eat lunch with your student or volunteer in any capacity. The background check application link is provided below.
Lost and Found: Our wonderful Boy Scouts will be managing our lost and found this year. In order to keep the items manageable, we will be taking unclaimed items to our donation bins at the end of each month. Make sure you check the rack outside the gym each week for missing gear.

BIrthdays!

We are happy to celebrate your child's birthday at school. We allow parents to send birthday trinkets for their child's class if they want, however, WE DO NOT ALLOW BIRTHDAY TREATS or FOODS. Cupcakes/cake/candy etc. compete with healthy meals and snacks. We will not serve them.

Background ChEcks

Families: Savannah requires background checks for anyone volunteering on campus OR coming to campus for lunch with their student/s. Make sure your background check is up to date. We will begin allowing families to eat lunch with their students on August 28th. This gives our teachers and students time to practice cafeteria procedures properly before we welcome guests.
