We have an exciting educational opportunity that will be taking place on April 8th of this year -- the viewing of the Great North American Eclipse.
On this day, a rare astronomical event will occur, providing a unique learning experience for our students. The eclipse is an excellent opportunity for students to engage with science, astronomy, and the natural world. Many of our teachers will be incorporating this event into their lesson plans to enhance the educational experience for all students.
The safety of our students is our top priority; we will take all necessary precautions to ensure that the eclipse viewing is conducted in a safe and supervised manner. Protective eyewear is being donated for each student by the Perot Museum of Nature and Science.
We believe that this event will be a valuable and memorable learning experience for our students, and we encourage you to discuss it with your child. If you have any questions or concerns, or if you wish for your child to not participate, please let us know.
Dear Families,
Denton ISD will provide engagement for students on the upcoming early release days, February 16th, 2024, from 12:00 pm until 3:00 pm for elementary children. The Extended School Day program will coordinate with each campus to provide engaging activities for students while teachers are participating in Professional Learning Communities. In addition, Denton ISD transportation will be provided at both the early release time (12:00pm) and the regular release time (3:00 pm) for all eligible elementary bus students. If you indicate on the form that your child will ride the bus, please notify the ESD office 24 hours prior to the Early Release Day if there has been a change in pick up plan.
Parents must sign up each month to participate. If your student currently attends ESD, you do not need to sign up.
If you have any questions regarding this, please contact the Extended School Day office at 940-369-0080.
Participation in this opportunity will require completion of the form below. All forms must be submitted no later than midnight on Sunday, February 11th, 2024 to participate.

Estimadas Familias:

Make sure you fill out a background check if you plan to eat lunch with your student or volunteer in any capacity. The background check application link is provided below.
Lost and Found: Our wonderful Boy Scouts will be managing our lost and found this year. In order to keep the items manageable, we will be taking unclaimed items to our donation bins at the end of each month. Make sure you check the rack outside the gym each week for missing gear.
We are happy to celebrate your child's birthday at school. We allow parents to send birthday trinkets for their child's class if they want, however, WE DO NOT ALLOW BIRTHDAY TREATS or FOODS. Cupcakes/cake/candy, etc. compete with healthy meals and snacks. We will not serve them.
Families: Savannah requires background checks for anyone volunteering on campus OR coming to campus for lunch with their student/s. Make sure your background check is up to date.
Let's rock our school spirit each week! Our goal is 100% participation!
