Homework

In this section a homework is provided to reinforce the learned materials of this section about Tableau Desktop software. In fact, in order to re-examine our learned materials, for completing this homework, you need to download this dataset from of COVID-19 at the country level of the whole world: https://covid.ourworldindata.org/data/owid-covid-data.xlsx from Our World in Data repository.

Homework's dataset

COVID-19 at the country level of the whole world: https://covid.ourworldindata.org/data/owid-covid-data.xlsx from Our World in Data repository

Homework

Upload the new dataset given in this homework from Our World in Data repository into the Tableau Desktop. Now follow this procedure and save the results in each section:

  1. Use table calculations to create a field that shows daily new cases extracted from total cases and now visualize the moving averages of this newly calculated field combined with new cases field to compare your calculation with the original data available here.

  2. Create a motion chart that shows the moving averages of total cases across different continents grouped and finally produce an animated gif that visualize this motion chart.

  3. Develop a Donut chart to visualize the total cases across different continents and could be controlled by a parameter to slice the date for visualization.

  4. Create an slider that could be used to slice the date in the previous section for Donut chart visualization.

  5. Develop an informative dashboard that could show the total cases, new cases, total deaths, new deaths interactively when we change the continent parameter and have a parameter to slice the date. Visualize the cases across the whole world in an interactive map within your dashboard.
