DUAL ENROLLMENT VS. EARLY COLLEGE
We understand that many of our students are interested in taking additional courses outside of Fremont Unified School District.
Please note that courses taken outside of FUSD:
DO NOT COUNT for high school credit
CANNOT be used for acceleration (e.g. taking Pre Calculus at a community college will not allow the student to advance to Calculus)
WILL NOT be placed on FUSD high school transcripts
If you ultimately decide to take a course at a community college, you can submit FUSD transcripts along with any other transcripts as part of your university applications.
DUAL ENROLLMENT
Courses offered at WHS that can also count for high school credit (e.g. Digital Imaging)
EARLY COLLEGE
Taking courses at a community college while in high school. WHS Counselors DO NOT have information on this process, nor do we assist with registration. We also cannot encourage nor endorse any programs or institutions. This would solely be up to the student and family to research and decide if this is something they would like to pursue. Students and families must work with the college on registration and scheduling. Students, however, may include our emails as part of the permission form, which we will receive via email to sign off on (note: counselors will not sign off on more than 7 units per semester. This is permitting the student has a 2.0 and no F grades).
OHLONE COLLEGE CONNECTIONS
Ohlone College has partnership with Fremont Unified School District and Newark Unified School District to offer the College Connections program for cohorts of high school seniors.
College Connections students take high school classes in a cohort that is at the Ohlone campus in the morning and the college classes of their choice in the afternoon, giving them the opportunity to get a head start on college, whether it be continuing at a community college or earning transferable units to a four-year college or university.
