Press the “Start Procedure” button to enter the Operating Room.
You will see an instruction panel in front of you. Please follow the instructions on each panel to align yourself with the patient and adjust the position of the microscope as needed.
In addition to adjusting the height, you can move the microscope forward, backward, and side-to-side to achieve the desired position in all planes. During adjustment, only the outline of the microscope will be visible.
If you remove and then re-enter the headset, the system will present the same alignment panels to guide you through the process again.
You can return to the alignment process at any time by clicking the alignment icon at the top of the main instruction panel.
If the microscope isn't centered, return to the alignment process.
If the microscope is too far or too near, return to the alignment process.
If you experience flashing in the microscope, you are leaning in too much. Come out of the microscope, sit straight and this should fix the issue.
The pitch & roll indicator arc at the top of the microscope view changes color to show the tool's pitch rotation angle:
Orange: More than 10 degrees off from the optimal angle.
Yellow: 5 to 9 degrees off from the optimal angle.
Green: Within -4 to 4 degrees of the optimal angle.
The position of the pitch & roll indicator arc changes position to show the tool's optimal roll angle. When the center aligns with 6 o'clock, the tool's end aligns with the plane of the iris.
Assessment of the animation steps involves:
passing step with full points if animation is watched to end or
failing step with zero points if user skips forward before animation is completed.
Assessment of the haptic steps involves a surgical score of 100 being awarded if step is completed properly without triggering any adverse events (AEs).
Pass mark is 80 points
Each AE incurs a penalty point deduction anywhere from -100 for serious AEs down to 0 for minor AEs
Sessions are only valid for formal assessment if the user has progressed through each step linearly, without skipping or repeating any steps.
Session data will be submitted to the dashboard provided that the user clicks the "Exit" button (top right) after each session.
Clicking "Back" and then "Start Procedure" in the main lobby causes previous session data to be overwritten.
Interactive steps have visual cues or aids to help you reach the objective of the step. The visual guidance is on by default but you may turn it off (and then back on) at any point during the procedure by toggling the lightbulb icon in the microscope view or above the main instruction panel.
The use of visual guidance does not impact your score.
It is important that you position yourself comfortably in front of the VR kit.
Your elbows should be at a ~90 degrees angle
Your back should be straight
Your hands should be resting comfortably on the wrist rest
The distance between your body and the table should be similar to the distance between your elbow and wrists
Please ensure that the height of your table or desk is appropriate and allows you to achieve the recommended body position.
Be aware of your body position and posture during the procedure!
Below are examples of bad body position and posture.
