Access the VR simulation
Access the VR simulation
Log into the Fundamental Surgery Hub using your email and password. If you don't remember your details, click on the Forgot Password button and check your email for a password reset link.
Create one by clicking on the "Create an Account" button. Proceed with registration. Once complete, check your inbox for a welcome email from Fundamental Surgery and find the link to verify your email.
Ensure your profile is completed with up-to-date information. You will be asked to update your profile at your first login. You can come back to your Profile page via the main menu at any time.
If it's your first time logging in, take a tour around the Hub to familiarise yourself with features and options.
Access the MSICS VR Simulation through the Home page.
Click on the application and then press "Start". You will be taken through a few simple checks to ensure that your internet, headset, and haptic arms are all connected.
Once complete, click on "Start Application" and follow the onscreen instructions.
Activate Offline Mode in your profile to use the simulation without internet access. You will be asked to create a 4-digit PIN, which you need to memorize or store in a safe place.
On the login screen, press the WIFI icon at the bottom of the page and select "Airplane Mode". Log in offline using your email and 4-digit PIN up to 13 times in a row or up to 7 consecutive days (whichever comes earlier). Afterward, you must connect to the Internet to log in again.
Your session data will be stored in offline mode. The data will become available on the dashboard once you go online.
Complete the haptic arm calibration to pair your 3D Touch Haptic Arms. You can access "Haptics Calibration" through the "Menu" button or you’ll be asked to set up your haptics ahead of starting the VR application. Follow the steps on the screen to first set the right haptic arm and then the left one.
To sign out of your account, press the "Menu" icon on the top panel and find the ''Sign Out'' button.
We kindly ask that you do not share your account with your colleagues so that your session data accurately reflects your progress. If a colleague of yours wishes to use the VR simulation, please sign out of your account and ask your colleague to use their login details.
To exit the application, press the ''Quit" icon in the top right corner.
If your headset or controllers are not being detected, check your cables to ensure the headset is connected to the laptop.
If you are using the Quest Pro, ensure that the Oculus Link is enabled and recognized. (Not required for Oculus Rift S)
Make sure you're running the latest Oculus firmware.
Disable Power Saving: Prevent the laptop from entering power-saving mode while using the VR headset. Adjust the laptop's power settings to ensure that USB ports and other hardware remain active.
Restart and Reconnect: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve connection issues. Restart both the laptop and the VR headset, then reconnect the headset cables.
Unplug the power cable from the back of the arms.
Unplug the USB cable from the back of the arms.
Plug the power back in.
Then plug the USB cable back in.
Click try again to rescan the arms.
