History of Turkish Cinema

The history of the beginning of Turkish cinema dates back to the period of the Ottoman Empire. This culture, which began with foreign films shown in various places in the capital, Istanbul, in 1896-1897, reached its domestic dimension with the film The Fall of the Russian Monument in Ayastefanos, made by Fuat Uzkinay in 1914.

Ankara's cinematic scene is a living tapestry of storytelling and creativity, it has a rich history that dates back to the first days of Turkish cinema. Filmmakers such as Nuri Bilge Ceylan and Semih Kaplanoğlu have made considerable contributions to Ankara's film industry by gaining recognition at home and cotton (I'm not certain) on international stages. The city's historical theaters, which include the Büyülü Fener Cinema and Çağdaş Sanatlar Merkezi (Contemporary Arts Center), offer a very broad range offilms from independently produced productions to big-budget releases. In addition, Ankara is also one of the host cities for international film festivals. The Ankara International Film Festival celebrates the art of cinema and introduces newcomers from Turkey as well as other parts of the world to audiences.
